Almost Wordless Wednesday: Disney History

25 Feb
February 25, 2014

Since I flip-flopped the WW theme last week, I’m sharing some Disney history pics today. These are from our 2012 trip to Walt’s hometown of Marceline, MO. One of the best D23 experiences I’ve had so far!

(Clockwise from top left: The Emporium and Uptown Theatre, on Marceline’s Main Street, both used as inspiration for Disneyland’s Main Street; Walt’s Barn, where he learned the art of entertaining a crowd; Walt’s Dreaming Tree)

Thanks for stopping by today! Do you have some Disney history to share? Come along and join the fun, we’d love to have you! To link up to your Disney history post, or to visit the other great bloggers in today’s hop, click on the image below.

lol – Well, I’m glad you went *back* to feature Disney history… cause with your D23 trips I knew you’d have waaay more to offer than most on that topic! ;)

True story. Last week I stopped by your WW post, after checking Focused On the Magic’s theme for the week, and I was very very confused?! You had me thinking I must be in the wrong week? Did I just lose a week of my life? (See how much credibility you hold with me, Holly – I assumed you were right ;) HA! )

LOL! Too funny. I couldn’t believe I posted the wrong thing – I even have it written down in my calendar, so you would THINK I would know what’s going on! I’m blaming lack of sleep and craziness at work, although it did make me feel better to see that Deb did the same thing I did :-)

That is so cool! Do they make any reference to Walt Disney in town?

Thanks, Meranda! Oh yes, they are all about Walt Disney in Marceline! The elementary school is named after Walt Disney, they opened a Walt Disney museum several years ago and pretty much everyone you talk to in town has some story about Walt. He visited several times in the 50s/60s, so many of the residents met him. It was a great trip – one I would recommend for any Disney fan! :)

Thanks for stopping by! This was a special tour set up with D23. Both the barn and the Dreaming Tree are on private property, so it’s not always open to visitors, but it can definitely be arranged. The museum there is also very good. Hope you get a chance to visit sometime!
