Almost Wordless Wednesday: Disney Castles
This week’s blog hop theme is “Disney Castles”. Other than being on a ship in the middle of a pitch black ocean, there is probably no better setting for a fireworks show than in front of a castle at any of the Disney parks. My favorite show is at Disneyland and while this picture is not very good technically, every time I look at it, it immediately transports me to the park and I always hear the beginning notes of the “Remember…Dreams Come True” soundtrack playing in my head
Thanks to Deb at Focused on the Magic for hosting another great Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop! Make sure to click through to see posts from all the other “hoppers” this week.

I think that is a perfectly wonderful shot! I can never get a good one of the fireworks… I think I would need much more equipment that I fancy to take with me!
Remember is my favorite fireworks show ever; I cry every time without fail!
Thanks Alyssa. I always think about bringing the right equipment with me, but then I remember that I’ll end up carrying it all day so I never do
I love that show too and such a heartwarming message. This is a great picture with a mystical castle color and fireworks in the back.
Great shot, love the castle with fireworks.
I love Disney fireworks and it is my latest passion to photograph ( http://imagegatherer.wordpress.com/2012/05/01/wishes-fireworks/ ). Add the castle and what can be better?
Thanks for sharing your pictures, Mark! They’re great. I really would love to take better shots, and I even have all the equipment I would need, but I am always too lazy to carry everything around with me
It’ll happen someday!
I have always been of that same mind – basically hating to carry a tripod. For our December trip I bought a decent travel tripod that I could attach to my camera case, and it worked out. (Well, due to a torn ligament I was in an ECV in December, but it did work out for our April trip.) I know have a backpack/sling camera case that has a tripod attachment on it and it’s not bad.
It is a great shot! I have never had a fireworks shot turn out – although I try each and every time!
I am about to do a blog post about taking fireworks shots, but the basics are that you NEED a tripod, small aperture and slow shutter speed. While having an SLR helps, this can be done just as well with a point and shoot.
In truth, I have just started to get decent fireworks pictures (see link in my comment above) though I have been trying for years!
Thanks Lisa!
Mark is definitely right – having the right equipment, particularly a tripod, is a must to get great fireworks pics. I just never happen to have the right equipment with me!
So true, there is no other fireworks setting more magical than in front of a Disney castle. My favorite is Wishes in front of Cinderella’s castle in WDW.
Thanks for sharing your Wordless Wednesday with us and for linking up to The Disney Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop today.
I have a serious love/hate relationship with the fireworks at the castle. They look fantastic going off around it, but boy does it ever cause congestion on Main Street. We only watch from out front every once in a while, but every time we do, I get a little chill. Love this picture!
I hear ya, Steve. This particular shot was taken when we had access to a special seating area at the hub so we didn’t have to fight with the crowds too much, but normally we don’t watch them from here.
Awesome pic with the fireworks over head…
I love the one firework….it is a photo with exploding with anticipation!
I think it is a perfect picture. So much magical potential in that one spark!
Interesting! So that fireworks show beats “Wishes” at Magic Kingdom, to you? Can’t wait … I think this is in our next-winter’s plans!
Oh yes, “Remember” beats “Wishes” for me, for sure. But part of that might be because we’re more likely to see Illuminations in EPCOT when we’re at WDW, so it’s been awhile since I’ve seen fireworks in the MK.
Yay for Disneyland plans! You’ll have to let me know when you’re thinking about going – maybe we can have a “Colorado Meetup” in Disneyland!
Thanks to everyone for stopping by today! I love reading all your comments, so thank you so much for taking the time
I love your shot! You captured the “ah” moment!!
Absolutely love your shot! I love the fireworks :]
I’m usually too busy trying to keep track of my two youngest kids so I don’t get to spend much time perfecting my Disney photos. And no way do I want to lug around a bunch of photo equipment while we’re touring the World. Some day though…it would be great fun to have a Disney day with just myself and my camera!
I agree, Lucinda! Definitely hard to get perfect Disney pictures when you are being dragged to the next ride by a kiddo (well, that’s what happens to me at least!) Our last trip my hubby let me head over to the park early, while he fed the kids breakfast and got them dressed. It was pure heaven
